What moe is — and is not

moe is an AI coaching app for adults 18 and older, focused on connection and relationships. moe is not therapy, counseling, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, emergency response, or safety monitoring, and it is not monitored as an emergency service. moe’s coach is an AI, not a human, and does not provide clinical care.

Our crisis protocol

Recognition Labs maintains a protocol designed to prevent moe’s AI coach from producing suicidal ideation, suicide, or self-harm content, and to refer users who may be in crisis to crisis service providers:

Prevention. The coach operates under safety instructions: it does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or therapeutic intervention, and when a user expresses a possible crisis it responds supportively and refers the user to the crisis resources above rather than engaging with the content as coaching material.

Detection and referral. moe’s safety systems evaluate live coaching calls — and voice messages, when they are processed — for language that may indicate immediate risk of self-harm or harm to others. When such language is detected, moe displays a crisis-resource notification with the resources listed above: during the call, or when the user next opens the app after a flagged voice message.
